Floral Elegance

It is my mum’s birthday very soon and I wanted to create a pretty and elegant card to celebrate the occasion. I turned to the lovely Extraordinary Flora products and the pretty Beautiful Bokeh and Irresistible Designs designer series papers to create this card.

Ink blending over the die cut Irresistible Designs pattern paper highlights the resist pattern on this paper. I left the centre a very soft blue and darkened the edges for contrast. This piece, on top of the pretty patterned Beautiful Bokeh paper created a lovely background for the florals. The flowers are from the Extraordinary Flora washi tape, placed on white card stock and then die cut out. Super easy to create. I then created clusters of florals in two corners of the die cut and inked paper.

I used gold elements to match with the papers and florals. Gold is a perfect way to create elegance on a card. I did this with the heat embossed sentiment, striped ribbon and metallic gems.

I was really happy with the way this card design came together. I hope my mum will love it too!

Cheers, Catherine

Birthday Dino

We have a super fun birthday card today with a cute dinosaur to send happy birthday greetings. I combined this with a couple of letters from the Party Alphabet Dies, creating some fun imagery on the front of this card.

The background is made from a lovely piece of Timeless Plaid designer series paper. I love these patterns and they are so versatile as they work for any occasion. The colour of the plaid determined the other colours used on the card, those that matched or blended and one for contrast.

I probably should have used the birthday hat on the Darling Dino, but I was having fun creating with the top hat image and added it here instead. Maybe the dino is dressing up for the special occasion!

It is a bit hard to see in the image above, but I used black Baker’s Twine for the balloon strings, clustering them behind the sentiment label. Placing the balloons over the letters was a good way to push them into the background a bit and not be overwhelming as they could be as they are so large.

Take a look at the different stamp and die sets that you have and consider new ways to combine them in your card designs. It is a lot of fun and a great way to get more use out of the product you already have.

Cheers, Catherine

Snow Friends

Christmas projects have commenced and one of the first ones I wanted to start with was the fun Festive Friends bundle. Three cute Christmas characters are in the stamp set, two appearing on this card. Along with the stamps are some fun dies to create a snowy background. I used the two tree dies on this card.

The characters are super simple to colour. I have used Stampin’ Blends along with Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush for some extra sparkle on the white parts of the hats. There are so many colours to choose from in the Natural Tones Stampin’ Blends collection that I have been having some fun choosing different skin and hair colours for the characters.

I knew I wanted to create a lot of cards with these fun characters, so I stamped a heap of each image and coloured them all at once. I now just need to keep creating the cards to put them on!

This cute bundle is the feature for the October 2025 Monthly Card Club. Join in this month if you would like to make six cards with these fun images. It is a great way to kick start your Christmas projects this year.

Suave Dino

This suave dinosaur from the Darling Dino stamp set does not quite have his heart on his sleeve, but holding it in his hand was close enough for me. Looking pretty dressy with his glasses and top hat, this pretty blue dino is making his feelings known.

I love the cute images from this stamp set. They are super quick and easy to colour and being the fun characters that they are, you can decorate them in any colours you would like and they still look great. The stamp set contains a heap of small images to dress up your dinosaur or put them into a scene. I went simple with glasses, heart and hat for this card.

The sentiment is a lot of fun; you can change out the wording and colours to create the sentiment of your choice. The plaid was a great choice for the background and it was the colour of plaid that I chose that was the inspiration for all the other colour choices on this card.

If you want to make a fun card to cheer someone’s day, consider the Darling Dino bundle. It will give you as much enjoyment to create with as it will for someone to receive it.

Flowers and Bugs

When I want to let go of the pressures of the day and relax, colouring is one of the things that I enjoy that helps me to do this. Spending time to gradually bring an outlined picture to life with colour is a perfect way to get out of my head and forget about what else is going on, relaxing into the act of colouring and enjoying the processes of creativity.

The Mixed Florals stamp set has beautiful, large floral images that are perfect for colouring. The best bit is that you can colour them over and over again, choosing different colour combinations to add variety to your projects.

The stamp set also has some fun little ladybug images. I have used just one on this card, choosing to add some pretty brass butterflies as an alternative to more ladybugs. There are no sentiments in the stamp set, so I have added a simple sentiment from the Simply Said stamp set.

The other element on this card that I really love is the background paper. There are many lovely wood inspired pattern papers in the Country Woods designer series paper, but for some reason, I keep choosing to use this particular pattern paper. I love the subtle colours and the lightly textured look. It just always seems to compliment the project I am working on.

I hope you make some time for yourself and relax with a small colouring project. You deserve it!

Sweet Popcorn

This card design is a variation of one we made at a Stampin’ Up! event. I love the simplicity of the design and find that it is very versatile, changing how it looks depending on the pattern papers you use and the focal point you create. I have simplified the techniques used to create this card, but that then leaves you with many options to add techniques for variety on your cards while using the same design. This is one reason why card making is so much fun!

I have used the Poppin’ By bundle to create the focal point on this card, as well as the sentiment which is stamped directly onto the card base. Always a bit scary in case I mess it up. The little popcorn bucket is a lot of fun to make and very easy. You stamp it twice, once in red and once in yellow and then cut away the popcorn section from the red image, and cut away the bottom third of the yellow image. Then simply adhere the yellow image to the back of the red image with your yellow popcorn sitting above the bucket.

To make my popcorn bucket a bit ‘girly’ I added a twine bow. I coloured white Baker’s twine with a dark red Stampin’ Blend to match the bucket. There are little dies in the bundle that you can use to dress the popcorn bucket, however in this instance I left it with just the bow for dressing.

The paper I used is from the 2025-2027 In Colour Designer Series Paper pack. Although you only use a small amount of pattern paper, you get to use a few different patterns. Imagine how many cards you could get from the pattern paper when so little of it is used in this design. A great way to stretch the papers you love and create with fun colour combinations.

Sample Inspiration

This pretty card is heavily inspired by one of the samples for the Impressions Abloom Bundle that you will find in the Online Exclusives part of my online store. You will only find these products on my online store, they do not appear in any catalogues. The floral stamping and sentiment banner are following as closely as I could to the sample that is shown with the products. It was such a pretty design that I had to copy and share it with you.

The floral panel is a combination of images stamped directly to card stock, some images stamped and die cut (added for a 3D effect), and die cut flowers. Combining and overlapping the different images and colours creates this lovely floral feature.

The sentiment is quite large and creates a fun banner to cut across and hold together the floral images. I added some Strawberry Slush & Pretty In Pink gems for some sparkle and a bit more pink! I colour matching pattern paper from the Floral Impressions designer series paper finished the card. This solid colour created a great background for the floral panel, and the small pattern adds another element of interest to the card, without taking away from all the stamping.

Make sure to check out the samples on my online store. You will find them with the various product to give an idea of what the product does and how to use it. The samples are a wonderful resource for ideas and inspiration.

BBQ Birthday

The Turtle-y Awesome bundle is super cute, with lots of images and dies to create fun cards. However, I must admit that I haven’t used my bundle a lot yet as the Turtle-y Cute designer series paper has some fabulous images that are super easy to fussy cut out and I have been using these to make a bunch of cards instead of the stamp set.

On today’s card I created a BBQ scene for a cheerful birthday card by cutting the images from the fun pattern paper. The lovely Turtle Textures embossing folder created a lovely 3D background, which I used directly on the card base. I added a sentiment from the stamp set, and a tiny bit more of one of the pattern papers, some hexagon gems and my card is done. The images from the pattern paper make such a great focal point that it is super easy to make simple, fun card designs.

I will get to making some more cards using the stamps and coordinating dies, but at the moment, it is hard to tear myself away from creating fun scenes with the images from the pattern papers!

Pink Parrot

Stampin’ Up! products are well known for the terrific way that the colours coordinate across products. I have used this in today’s card coordinating the coloured parrot with the pinks in the floral paper and part of the stamped sentiment. I have created a very pink card today!

Melon Mambo is the main colour with the parrot, from the Feathered Fun stamp set, coloured in Stampin’ Blends. I used a thin strip of Melon Mambo card stock above the pattern paper to give it an edge, but also the illusion of a bar that the parrot is sitting on.

The parrot was fussy cut and added on top of everything, with part of the sentiment also fussy cut and placed over the top of the parrot. The Layered Thoughts stamp set has big sentiments that can be difficult to use, so I left a clear spot above the pattern paper for the large word on this card.

The florals on the Lovely Garden pattern paper are so pretty. I tried to use as much of it as I could without covering the whole front of the card. The paper was definitely the inspiration or driver for the creation of this card.

It was fun bringing together products that weren’t created as a suite, but still seeing them work so well together. This means we have endless uses for our crafting products, using them together to create a variety of projects.

Popcorn Film

My August monthly card club projects featured the super fun Poppin’ By Bundle. This super cute bundle has a popcorn theme and I just had to share one of the class cards with you. This bundle is perfect for creating ‘movie night’ card designs to invite friends over for a movie night or if you wanted to keep in touch with a movie buff friend!

I used the current 2025-2027 In Colours on this card and must admit that even though I didn’t particularly like Secret Sea at first, it has fast become a favourite and go to colour.

The elements in the bundle are super fun for dressing up your popcorn bucket. A tip is to use adhesive sheets behind the card stock as this will make it very easy to adhere the small elements such as the glasses and shoes. I also love the little film strip die which adds a fun element to the card. Movies and popcorn, a perfect pairing.

I have added some sparkle with gold striped ribbon and holographic gems. These gems are very pretty in real life and you can see from the photo above how they change colour in different light.

Don’t overlook the Poppin’ By Bundle. Although a smaller bundle, it is a lot of fun to play with and create a variety of card designs. Enjoy!
