When you purchase a new cling stamp set you will see that the red rubber stamps come punched into a sheet, with a separate sheet of labels that need to be adhered to the stamps. This can be a little tricky as the adhesive on the labels is so strong that you will not have a chance to reapply a label if you don’t get it on properly the first time. Once on, the label is not coming off. If you try to remove the label, you could tear the sponge backing of your stamp.
So while this is a good thing, to know that the labels are not going to come off your stamps, and they are terrific at clinging to the clear blocks with out moving, it does mean you only get one chance to adhere the label properly. Follow the steps below for what I have found to be the easiest and most accurate way of applying the labels to the stamps. I hope this helps you to get your labels on your stamps perfectly every time.
When you receive your cling (red rubber) stamp set you will receive a case, a rubber sheet of punched stamps and a sheet of sticky labels.
Choose a label to adhere to a stamp. Each sticky label has a split in the centre of the backing paper. Fold back two corners of the centre split while the label is still on the sheet.
Now remove the label, with backing paper still attached, from the sheet and place it on a clear block.
Take the corresponding stamp from the sheet of stamps and remove its backing paper. Now remove the backing paper from the label on the clear block. Having folded back the corners on the label should make it easy to do this.
Turn your block over and ‘stamp’ your label onto the back of the cling stamp. Watch to match all sides of the label to the stamp shape. Remove the stamp from the block by getting a finger nail under one point of the stamp and lifting the stamp off the block. You have now adhered your label to the stamp – easy!
Make sure to use a clear block that matches the size of the stamp and label.
When adhering a label to a background stamp, which is quite large, I found the Stamparatus is a great tool to assist with this. Start the same as above, by turning back two corners at the split of the backing paper on the label. Place your stamp, without backing sheet onto the base of the Stamparatus. Place the label, with backing sheet against the stamp, on top of the stamp. Close the door of the Stamaparatus to pick up the label. Make sure both stamp and label are facing the same direction.
Remove the backing sheet from the label and then close the Stamparatus again, adhering the label to the stamp. Make sure the stamp had not moved in the meantime.
